Search Dictionaries

There are two basic ways to find information in Chinese Toolbox. One is through the Search window; the other is through context menus of main entry frames in dictionary windows.

Search window:

1. Display the Search window.
2. Fill in any of the search fields with your search criteria.
3. Check or uncheck 'Whole word only' or 'Case-sensitive' checkboxes as appropriate.
4. Specify the search scope near the bottom of the Search window.
5. Click the Search button (completes this Tip).

Context menu search:

To find information about an entry, right-click one of the dictionary main entry frames to show menu options. See Tip #10 (for characters) and Tip #11 (for words).

These two methods can be combined: e.g. (1) Search for an entry via a dictionary context menu. (2) In the Search window specify 'Previous results' as the scope of the next search.
