Add a Word to the Dictionary

When you encounter consecutive characters in your reading that you know to be a real word, you can add the word to your copy of Chinese Toolbox in the following way:

1. Click on the first character of the word in the Reader; it should appear in the Character Dictionary window.
2. Press Shift-RightArrow to extend the selection to the right.
3. Right-click the selection to display a context menu, then click 'Create new word dictionary entry'. The characters you selected will appear as a word entry in the Word Dictionary window. You can add your own definition and pinyin pronunciation or leave these fields blank.

To see all your custom words, click 'Export custom words' on the File menu, then open ExportedCustomWords.utf8 (in your Chinese Toolbox document folder) in a text editor.
