The Reason for Chinese Toolbox
For many, learning to speak Chinese is not particularly difficult, but for learners of Chinese as a foreign language, the written aspect is an entirely different matter. Written Chinese is probably unique among languages when it comes to the sheer volume of information that one needs to remember. Just to read a newspaper you need to be able to recognize 3 to 4 thousand characters.
Chinese Toolbox was developed in the belief that reading is key to being able to develop and maintain one's proficiency in Chinese. Being able to read Chinese has obvious benefits, but it also helps you to develop a rich speaking vocabulary. Chinese Toolbox is designed to get you up to speed reading as quickly as possible. All the tools (features) of the program exist to help you focus on learning what will benefit you the most and the soonest.
